Mad Decent Summer Internship

md_web

During the summer of 2011 (June – August) I interned at Mad Decent, a record label based out of Los Angeles, California. As part of the internship I had the opportunity to create several short animations used for promotional purposes by the label.

This post contains all the projects I completed over the course of my internship as well as breakdowns and development details for each project.

Computer Modeling Reel

RobotFeature

Short reel showcasing different 3D modeling & animation projects I’ve worked on.

The demo reel breakdown explains what I did for each project and what software I used.

Augmented Reality Chemistry Review

AR_Web_492

Augmented reality educational review tool created for Sponholtz Productions. Created using the Adobe Flex SDK, written in Action Script 3.

The software allows students to visualize molecules in three dimensions by holding a review card up to their web cam. The software projects a virtual model of the molecule on their computer screen. Using this software they can look at the molecules from any angle or orientation in three dimensions.

Audio Reactive Visuals

TangledNets

During February 2010 I was commissioned to create real-time audio responsive visuals for use by bands Motorpsycho & Supersilent for their tour in Norway during March 2010.

The end result was a Processing application which interpreted an audio source and used that information to influence the visuals.

IntroWeb

While I was attending high school at Cushing Academy I helped start Sponholtz Productions, a company which produces and markets educational Chemistry teaching tools to high schools and colleges.

I created the animation for three separate DVDs. I also designed and currently maintain the company website: SponholtzProductions.com where the products can be ordered or streamed digitally. The website also features an augmented reality Chemistry review app that I developed.
